Green Schools for the Pacific
On August 29 and 30, “Green Schools for the Pacific” hosted a 2-session demonstration of the Pre-Texts Workshop at the Alumni Club of the Universidad de los Andes, academic launching pad for the collaboration to build and to develop faculty for new schools in the Afro-Pacific region of Chocó, Colombia.
Thanks to Victoria Mena (blue blouse) and Doris Sommer, who participated in the workshop, new colleagues sampled the protocol and appreciated an introduction to a methodology that will be useful for the Green Schools.
With Pre-Texts, educators from Bogota and other major cities will be able to incorporate local tastes and talents to lead sessions of research and interpretation through local arts. Without putting value on local cultural and personal resources, young people in the Chocó often migrate to other areas of the country and leave the homes that are most in need of an agile and rigorous education.
