With an invitation from Roberto Vidal, President of this transitional justice court to secure the peace accords, and thanks to support from the Federal Government of Germany, court functionaries and Cultural Agents experienced the co-construction of democracy in miniature through the Pre-Texts protocol during the last week of August 2024.
Established to develop restorative justice, rather than follow prescribed penal codes, the JEP is responsible for ensuring satisfaction of victims and continuing peace. Pre-Texts is the resource for prevention of violence there, and in the Ministry of Justice where it is also recognized as training in inclusion, equity, participation, and admiration among participants. The texts we read at the JEP came primarily from legal manuals.
The training prepared functionaries at the JEP and point persons from other public institutions, including the Secretariat for Public Safety and the Ministry of Education.
