Pre-Texts Africa Regional Director Tom Osborn announced as TED Fellow
Congratulations to our Pre-Texts Africa Regional Director, Tom Osborn, who was announced as a Ted Fellow this past week! The TED Fellows program provides transformational support to a global community of over 500 remarkable individuals who are collaborating across disciplines to spark positive change around the world. Matheus Batalha Moreira Nery at Conecta Escolas Exponenciais 2021
On the 24th and 25th of March, an important congress called Conecta Escolas Exponenciais 2021 happened in Brazil. This event was dedicated to Brazilian teachers and principals of elementary and high schools. The opening of the second day of the event was made by Professor Matheus Batalha, who in his talk analyzed some of the main challenges for Brazilian education from the humanities’ perspective, in addition to presenting the Pre-Texts Program to a large group of educators. A writer by vocation, his talk was based on elements of his own life story and how Pre-Texts, a remarkable moment in his life, led him to change his views on education and to constitute a project to help other educators to achieve more engagement with their students by using this protocol. Cultural Agents joins the Climate Heritage Network
Cultural Agents was recently admitted to the Climate Heritage Network. The Climate Heritage Network’s Madrid-to-Glasgow Arts, Culture and Heritage Climate Action Plan is its roadmap to mobilising arts, culture and heritage for climate action, which was release in December in Madrid, Spain at COP25, the 2019 UN Climate Summit. The Plan consists of 8 activities developed via a consultative process that engaged several hundred colleagues in over a year of discussions, whose goal was to identify and prioritize concrete actions that would help, at scale, fulfill the potential of arts, culture and heritage to aid communities in achieving the ambitions of the Paris Agreement. Cultural Agents is thrilled at this new partnership, and looks forward to contributing to its mission.

Carla Campbell launches project “Children’s Voices” in Nassau, The Bahamas
The Children’s Voices organization uses Art to help students find their voice. Founder and recent PhD candidate in Visual Arts, Carla Campbell, partners with Harvard Cultural Agents and Pre-Texts to host an Arts Empowerment workshop for “at-risk” learners this summer under the theme “Creative Genius Initiative.” Students are offered a scholarship based on art teacher recommendations, artistic skills and “at-risk” indicators held at the phenomenally creative space of Project I.C.E in Nassau, Bahamas from June 28 to July 30th 2021. The Pre-Texts pedagogy is interwoven throughout the structure of the camp from morning tangents to afternoon reflections (“What did we do?”). Students have opportunities to engage with Pre-Texts trained Harvard interns and local artists.
