Layli Brown Represents Costa Rica at the Second Western Caribbean Peoples’ Summit

Layli Brown, doctoral student of Afro-Latin American Studies at Harvard University represents Costa Rica in this regional Summit to advance rights, resources, and collaboration among Afrodescendant populations of the Caribbean.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, headed by the Directorate for Development and Development Border Integration – DIDIF, and with the support of the Augusto Diplomatic Academy Ramírez Ocampo and the Colombian Foreign Policy Observatory, coordinates the organization of the Second Summit of the Peoples of the Western Caribbean, which convenes civil society delegations from the ethnic peoples of the Caribbean Occidental, Raizales, Garifuna, Miskito, Creole, among others, as well as representatives of high-level of the States of the region (Jamaica, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Suriname, Guyana, Haiti, El Salvador, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama’).

The summit is conceived as a strategic forum for dialogue and cooperation deepening regional integration and promoting the creation of the Confederation of Peoples of the Western Caribbean.
