LAB.vOC — the Metabolic Laboratory of Olhar Contemporâneo (Contemporary Gaze) — applies the Pre-Texts protocol to contemporary art with a mixed cohort of artists and non-artists. Each 90-minute weekly session pairs a contemporary thinker with a work by an artist born after 1989: Françoise Vergès with Tadáskía, Rosi Braidotti with Jota Mombaça, Anne Kornbluh with Meriem Bennani — read aloud, questioned, and reworked through creative activation.
To date: 50 sessions, 100 readings, 100 participant creations. The work has expanded beyond the classroom into personal research, mentoring, and study trips. The first exhibition of participant creations opens in November 2026.
Pre-Texts is the departure point. Contemporary art is the territory. The metabolism is ongoing.
