This workshop marks the formal launch of the research programme (Re)shaping the XXI Century CCI policies cycle: a global South–North exchange on CCI policies and practice. The programme advances a comparative UK–Brazil research agenda on the future of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) policies, structured around four interconnected research axes — each culminating in a Policy Briefing. Over two days, academics, practitioners, and policymakers from the UK, Brazil, and across the globe will identify priority research interests and policy challenges from their respective contexts.

The first day brings together experts in a co-design lab to shape the four Policy Briefings, while the second day is open to the wider public to validate policy frameworks and debate the future of CCI policy. The briefings will be grounded in co-produced comparative case studies, combining strategic policy framing with real-world examples to illuminate key decision points, institutional constraints, and practical options. Proposed outputs will be stress-tested against the needs of policymakers and practitioners, while cross-country partnerships are consolidated to sustain a South–North alliance for the delivery of the policy briefing cycle.
