Seven projects, including “Expanding Mental Health Interventions for Kenyan Youth,” have been selected for the 2024 Motsepe Presidential Research Accelerator Fund for Africa. Led by Tom L. Osborn (Shamiri Institute) and Doris Sommer of Harvard University, with co-investigators David M. Ndetei (University of Nairobi; Africa Mental Health Research and Training Foundation) and Victoria Mutiso (Africa Mental Health Research and Training Foundation), and collaborator Brenda Ochuku (Shamiri Institute).
The project will scale up the Pre-Texts Arts-Literacy Intervention reported in An arts-literacy intervention for adolescent depression and anxiety symptoms: outcomes of a randomised controlled trial of Pre-Texts with Kenyan adolescents – eClinicalMedicine (thelancet.com).
