“La Intersección” Art is a Tool for Social Transformation on the Border

Art

On June 8, 2026, a group of university students from Ciudad Juárez and El Paso launched La Intersección — a binational cultural collective that places art at the center of social transformation in the Paso del Norte region.

Through artistic, technological, and multidisciplinary projects, the collective addresses identity, memory, migration, violence, and belonging — the lived realities of a border community that exists between two countries and two languages.

The inaugural presentation at the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez included the short film La Intersección, directed by Erick Sánchez. The collective is led by Niza García, Systems Engineering student at UTEP, with participation from students at Texas Tech El Paso and Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez.
