From May 25 to 31, 2026, UNESCO celebrated the first edition of its renamed Culture and Arts Education Week — formerly the International Arts Education Week since 2011, and officially renamed at the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in 2025.
Under the theme “Culture and arts education for lasting peace,” the week included an online exhibition “Art for Peace”— featuring works by students aged 6 to 14 from the UNESCO ASPnet global network.
A new name for a deepening commitment: art education is not a cultural amenity. It is a path to peace.
